A Lifelong Passion for Dogs
Dogs have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up around them, I developed a deep love for their companionship and an interest in understanding their behaviour. In 2023, I began volunteering as a dog walker at Eden Animal Rescue Centre, and it quickly became clear that working with dogs wasn’t just something I enjoyed - it was something I needed to do.
From Dog Walking to Professional Training
At the time, I was employed in the public sector, but my passion for working with dogs led me to start my own dog walking business named ‘Wagging Trails’ in my spare time. As my business grew, I obtained a 5 Home Boarding License* from the council, allowing me to care for dogs while their owners were away. I used the income from boarding to invest in my education, eager to deepen my knowledge and learn how to train dogs effectively using positive, science-based methods.
While studying, I began offering free training sessions to my boarding clients, gaining hands-on experience with a wide range of dogs and behavioural challenges. This period was invaluable, as it allowed me to develop real-world skills while helping owners achieve results.
Becoming a Certified Trainer
In April 2024, I officially became a Certified Dog Trainer through the Dog Training College. From there, I expanded my services to include board and train programs, 1-1 training, puppy classes, and more. Dedicated to continuous improvement, I reinvested much of my income into further education, attending specialised courses and gaining additional certifications.
As a result, I am now a Certified Reactivity Specialist and Separation Anxiety Specialist, equipping me with the skills to help dogs with complex behavioural needs. My goal is to continue learning and refining my expertise so that I can offer the best possible support for you and your dog.
I re-branded from ‘Wagging Trails’ to ‘Summit Dog Training’ in February 2025, to align the brand more relevantly with our training services. At Summit Dog Training, I believe that with the right guidance, every dog can succeed. Whether you need help raising a confident puppy, resolving behavioral issues, or fine-tuning obedience, I’m here to help you and your dog reach new heights.
